“the BMW X5 3.0 Sport is a dream to drive, basically...”

written by cynical50 on 05/01/2009

Good Points
not long bought a 56 plate diesel sport model with 19k on the clock. It's a dream to drive, I don't find any problems with it being a danger on pulling away, infact the opposite, I was surprised at how gutsy it feels for an auto. The sports seats are comfortable and I cannot believe how quiet it is for a diesel.

Bad Points
The toys are great but realistically some are a bit unnecessary and just extras to go wrong and buttons to fiddle with. the wide tyres make it a nightmare for driving through puddles.... the windscreen gets drenched but apparently this is common in all 4 x 4's with wide tyres? it's something I'm going to take up with BMW, to see if it can be alleviated in some way.

General Comments
the BMW X5 3.0 Sport is a dream to drive, basically point and go and almost takes the fun out of driving as its so easy. Its very comfortable and feels fantastic. Motorway driving is a pleasure with good mpg (for the size) ... between 30 and 40mpg. No getting away from it, its a beast of a car and running costs equate to that. All in all a seriously impressive piece of kit and for the price these are available for at the moment, a real bargain in my eyes (under £20k)
