I am in the process of having my Nissan Micra sorted. Its a 53 plate that I have owned for 7 years and only done 23k miles. I have had the engine management light on since xmas now, when it's plugged into the computer it shows a sensor fault. I have since had both sensors ( crank and cam shaft ??? i'm not sure if that's the corect name) replaced with out the problem being being fixed. I have now been told that it's the drive chain and am looking at a rough cost of £700-£800 to repair.
Not long after starting the engine the car loses all power with no response (vrrooom)from the accelerator. The engine is how ever still turning over. I have to pull over to the side of the road and turn the engine off, wait a min or 2 then start the car. Last time it happened i was on a roundabout !!.When it starts its very 'blowy' as tho there are no revs even if the accelerator is to the floor. I just have to keep pumping it till it sounds ok. The car has done the equivalent of 1-2 years mileage. The only saving grace is that it is the frist time in 7 years that I have had to send some money on it. If it were to have happened after a year or 2 of ownership ( if i did more miles ) I would be distraught . My local nissan deny its a problem saying it could happen to any car!! Very helpfull !! Up till now it has been a very reliable and great run around for my milage but I certainly wouldn't buy a nissan again.
