“I have a 1 year old boxer dog. Sadly back in November...”

Written on: 31/03/2011

I have a 1 year old boxer dog. Sadly back in November he bagan having fits, he got diagnosed with idiopathetic epilepsy (epilepsy with no cause). DL were fantastic, dealt direct with the vets and paid out over £3000 in care including MRI scans, multiple vet stays, ongoing prescriptions for a range of pills, the staff were always nice and friendly.

Ricky also managed to tear his cruciate ligament in his back leg, again DL were amazing, paid for hydrotherapy, xrays, medication.

However, heres the catch, renewal time. Despite being informed before taking out the policy that Ricky would be covered year after year for any condition as long as we stayed with DL. They have just informed us they will indeed insure Ricky, but they WILL NOT cover the epilepsy or leg. So if he ever needs knee replacement surgery, he will not be able to. His ongoing prescriptions are going to provide a great burden. 1 set of Kepra tablets costs £75 for a 5 day course, something I can not be affording.

Please take note, that despite being a fantastic company for paying out, being supportive they will not cover your dog for any pre exsisting conditions. I am currently in the process of finding the documents to prove they stated they will cover him whatever, and will then be taking it further.
