General Comments
Grand Theft Auto GTA San Andreas: I don't know about you, but America's modern day gang culture has always fascinated me, especially after I first saw the movie "Colors".

Although I must admit it was not long until I started thinking, man LA is a scary place!!!! Thank God I live in Australia (although we too have our fair share of gangs, crime and violence).

Gangbangers are still ripe around most cities in the US today, and what better fun then to become one without worrying about being shot or jailed. GTA once again puts you in the hot seat and lets you rule the hood as a "gangster"

Rockstar have always displayed an unbiased viewpoint on guns, sex, drugs and good old fashioned American violence and also perfectly portrayed America's darker side of everyday crime and gun culture. While also providing some of the sickest and funniest moments in gaming history. Now, I consider myself to be a rather normal guy with some everyday moral issues intact, but Goddam is it fun to steal a car, run down innocent pedestrians and beat up on crack addicted hookers for some small change. San Andreas offers you this freedom. Indulge in your darker side, but be wary...it can be very addictive!

For those that don't know, the game takes place around 3 key cities roughly based on Los Angleles, Las Vegas and San Francisco. You play CJ, and young man returing home for his mothers funeral, but as soon as you touch down, you don't even make it that far, as a couple of corrupt Police officers (who know you all too well from your younger days) pull you over and take you for a little ride....you can probably see where I'm heading with this....and the rest I'll let you discover!

To cut a long story short GTA: San Andreas looks gorgeous, even on low end PC's. Although the game engine is definitely starting to look a little dated, it still looks nice, and is very immersive. Especially when the sunset afternoons take place in the grittier parts of town.

The soundtrack is once again great, and speeding through the hood, picking off other rival gang members and doing drive by's to NWA and Ezy E cranking through your speakers is a lot of fun. On many occasions I found myself laughing out aloud at the sheer insanity and over the top violence in San Andreas.

Although a lot smarter, cops in the game are still pretty dumb, but they can organize themselves quickly to take you down. It can be a little frustrating when you're trying to complete a mission and one accidently rams into you causing your wanted level to rise. The missions in GTA: San Andreas are varied and compelling. Like always you'll start your career in crime by doing odd jobs around the hood. Taking out rival crack dealers and gangs, and then advancing more and more into bigger crimes and more money. As per usual there are also tons of side missions to complete such as being a taxi driver etc.

You'll also need to look after your physique by regularily working out and eating right. You'll gain strength and stamina by doing certain tasks, and you'll also have to make sure your respect level rises otherwize other gang members will not respect you or take you seriously. One important issue you will need to take care of is learning how to fight "street style". You can learn all the dirty tricks down at your local gym.

Although there are some minor issues and bugs it is not enough to take away from the overall experience. And I noticed some of the missions can be frustrating and hard, but there are plenty of trainers, walkthrough's and cheat codes out there to help you through. This is by far the best in the GTA series and definitely worthy of your attention.

But like I said earlier, be wary, as it could rob you of sleep and a social life. GTA: San Andreas is highly addictive!

Oh, and did I mention the packaging is dam sexy too?
