“Take some sweets with you (mixed chews and refresher...”

Written on: 15/10/2008

Good Points
Just returned from a great holiday on Lady Mary (6 October 2008). Wonderful experience - weather couldn't have been better; Egyptologist was probably the best we could have had. She even set us assignments on our trips. The temple visits took place very early, but it was worth beating the crowds (who were arriving as we finished). This also meant that we were more comfortable in the heat than those arriving later in the morning. The Egyptian party night was fantastic - we all wore Gallabayers (which were much cheaper to buy in the market - about £10 each after haggling). Our Cosmos rep was absolutely attentive and went beyond the call of duty. He was totally dedicated to his clients, and passed through the tables at mealtimes giving us our next itinerary, checking that we were all ok.

Bad Points
Sunbeds were rather "tired" looking. But on the day of our departure they were replaced with brand spanking new ones. In fact, this brings the score up to 10/10.

General Comments
Take some sweets with you (mixed chews and refresher lollies etc in bags from the £1 shop). Local Nubian children also like coloured pencils. You can also use these as bargaining tools when haggling in the market place. Don't bother to take hair straighteners, electric kettles or hair driers - they set the smoke alarms off and are confiscated until the end of your stay. You have a hairdryer in the bathroom which is adequate.
