-Very quick for a 50cc
Small petrol tank
I've had my Piaggio NRG DD 50 for about three months now, and have covered around 1300 miles. And i have enjoyed every one of them. It is a very comfy moped, the seat is brilliant, comfy and at just the right height. It's easy to ride, it doesn't wobble around under braking and even in the wet the back wheel usually stays in line. I love the digital display, its easy to read and the black light is excellent, looks really cool when riding at night.
Now to what you really care about. I got my ped de-restricted at around 1100 miles, and was amazed by the speed. When I had it done, I was just hoping for a bit extra top end to keep up with traffic on the 40mph speed limit roads i use to get to college everyday, but was very pleasantly surprised to find that I could reach 60mph on the flat, and even out accelerate my friends Honda cg125, until we hit around 45mph. The speed is definitely helped by the fact that I'm quite a light guy, at just under 9 stone. It easily blows off any of the other mopeds where i go to college, and i've been known to out accelerate some cars from a stand still. I've made no other modifications, other than the de-restrict. The handling is excellent, due to the large tyres for a 50cc and i have at times found myself sticking my knee out, before realising im wearing jeans and that the concrete would tear my knee to bits!! It really is that fun to ride.
It starts first time, every time, even on the coldest of days it gets warm pretty quickly. I'd recommend the NRG to any 16 year old looking to get into riding bikes, and looking for something a bit different (and better than) the speedfight 2s that seem to be popular with guys who ride like idiots.
