“eMusic were offering a deal where you would sign up...”

Written on: 09/09/2010

eMusic were offering a deal where you would sign up for a trial and get 35 free songs (it's 45 now), it would then charge you after a month for £10 a month recurring.

I downloaded one song, quality was great, no problems but I chose to get Spotify instead and cancelled the trial. However, without warning, they charge me £10 even though I had cancelled, not only that but the free trial songs (credits) had been taken off the account. So I was left with 30 songs at that time. I wasn't even aware of this until I had got my bank statement 14 days later.

I was annoyed, being a kid without much money, I emailed them telling them to refund the amount I had been charged. No reply as expected, had to go to my bank and tell them not to pay it. I didn't download any more songs.

All in all I'd say extremely poor customer service (if any at all) and they are very, very shady with their offers.

NOTE: This happened about a year ago, I'm not sure if it's different now.
