General Comments
I saw the Logitech MX 510 Optical on sale for something like 40-50 bucks at future shop. I had a wireless, and had had enough with the battery changes. I wanted a wired mouse and I wasnt let down! The shape and colour was very attractive, and the price finally forced me into buying it. It is so VERY comfortable. No matter how you hold the mouse, it still fits in your hand and the small pads at the bottom are very slick; The plastic they are made of feels different from the rest of the mouse. When I play games (mainly first person shooters), I like the mouse to move slow. There is a compromise because you have to swing your character around fast, too fast, and aiming becomes difficult.

Normally I have it set very low. that isnt fair, seeing as I'm reviewing it, so I tuned the settings to the max, using the drivers that came with it and in game. Just TAPPING the mouse would jerk the character some 30-40 degrees. Unbelivable. Even the smallest twitches made a response on screen.
On the desktop I can get the point to touch each pixel beside it. I have an lcd screen. (do not critisize here. i CAN see each individual pixel and i CAN make the mouse twitch to each one) this mouse is more sensitive than even I can be. I never use it high, but if I did, this mouse would be appealing. The buttons are nice too. everything is in easy reach, with the exception of the window change button and even that is tolerable. There are a total of 5 auxillary buttons, only the forward and backward keys are of any use ingame, since the window change is incompatible and the up and down buttons are just the scroll wheel. The mouse is very good so far. I have owned a wireless logitech mouse which i also liked in the past and it shared the same problem as this one: mouse wheel durability. Not long after you buy it, the wheel will behave erractically. sometimes a tap will scroll, while sometimes a whole click of the wheel does nothing and sometimes one click will scroll twice. It isnt so bad, but is still annoying. Perhaps this is a trait all logitech mice have?
The little cavities in the mouse are irritating too, palm sweat can work its way into the cavities of the logo, side grooves and button grooves and it looks like junk after a while. It is easily remidied with a q-tip and some alchohol, the logo however can be a little uncomfortable when you use it long enough in some strange bumps under your palm where the logo stands out. It isnt bad at all, but a bad point is a bad point. Overall, the bad is too little to interfere with the good. The mouse is still performing almost flawlessly to this day. i think it will last a long time. and it works GREAT!
