Good Points
Has parallel port and PCMCIA slot (many more expensive models do not have this)... Very reasonably priced, sturdy build, and good software bundle.
Bad Points
Some may feel that the lack of a touch-pad is a problem; Personally I have no problem with the very precise pointing stick arrangement.
General Comments
The IBM Thinkpad R50e is a good, sturdy, basic laptop with Parallel port and PC card slot. Many expensive laptops are now supplied without either of these.
