General Comments
I've had the Volkswagen Golf around a year and am thoroughly delighted with it. It looks the business and has a great combination of sports/conservatism to satisfy a more middle of the road driver looking for a bit of enjoyment.
The Golf competes with a wide range of other cars, in a variety of factors and offers a number of positives. I've no problem with the dog having plenty of room in the boot, and have had some real good fuel economy on longer journeys. The diesel has a lovely low end torque but a relatively small turbolag so you can always put your foot down a bit which is nice to have.
Overall the GT TDi can compete with just about anything on at least one level, and there can't be many models can say that.
