General Comments
I purchased the Qualcast Elan 32 in June 2004, and wish I hadn't.
My gran had a Qualcast for nearly 20 years, and an ex. landlord had one for over 10 years with no problems, which was my reason for purchasing.
The Elan 32 is a cylinder mower, which is regarded as giving the closest, neatest cut- not so.
The machine cuts some blades of grass and leaves others flattened by the stupid bar at the front of blades (so the bar flattens the grass so the blades do not cut it). If the grass to be cut is over 3 inches long - you have no chance; the 350W motor can't handle it and rips the grass out by the root..
Other factors can't be to blame. I only cut in dry conditions, lawn is new and flat and blades are kept clean.
The machine is new so the blades do not need sharpened or re-aligned.
I just wish I knew this before buying, and would buy a rotary one.
