I own (2) 500's One I have deer hunted with for 25 years and never had a problem with it ( knock on wood). Killed deer as close as 20 yds and as far away as 120 yds. If you want something to admire don't buy a 500. If you want a good dependable, good shooting shotgun for the money buy a 500. Not to mention I use the cheap Remington Slugger 12 gauge slugs.
