“I had an 870 and it would not eject the shells. I sent...”

Written on: 13/05/2010

I had an 870 and it would not eject the shells. I sent it back twice and then they finally offered me a refund. I bought a Winchester 120 to replace it which is the same gun as the 1300 model. Never had any problems with my Winchester ever. However because the Model 120's were a limited run and the value is going up a lot on Winchester which were made in the United States. I decided it was time to retire my shotgun and buy another one. Mossberg's are still made in the U.S. so I decided to buy one. What a piece of junk it turned out to be. I special ordered it and it came in with a huge crack in the foregrip. Mossberg said to send it in but they sent me one that was a different color. So back it went again and the second time they got it right. The gun has more rattles than a baby's toy. The fore grip cycles rough and wobbles all over. The spring for the magazine is sliding around inside and noisy. Mossbergs design on the 500's magazine makes it impossible to add an extension to the magazine. And it cost me another $115 to replace the plastic safety and trigger guard which were garbage. I also dislike the ported barrels they are excessively loud and you could never hunt with a friend in a boat or in a blind with the ported barrels. They would pepper your hunting partner something awful. Also the wood on mine is really cheap looking and the finish looks like it was sprayed on at the factory. I should have listened to my dad. Over 40 years ago he told me only two kinds of people buy the Mossy's those that went cheap and didn't know about the quality. And those who are looking to sell theirs.
