“The new Tom Tom Go 910 needs a complete and serious...”

written by Peter J Henderson on 19/06/2006

Good Points
First class software. Maps a bit out of date here and there which causes embarrassment having to turn a motorcaravan around.
Easy to use.

Bad Points
Car Speed indication too small.
Distance and indication to destination arrow OK but distance figure is much too small to read when driving. (Dangerous to driver)
The unit Keeps switching off while in use. (Bumps in road)
Switches on accidentally when putting into supplied carrier zip bag.

General Comments
The new Tom Tom Go 910 needs a complete and serious redesign of the car windscreen mounting and low voltage car electrical contact unit. To enable a reliable connection. (this currently repeatedly fails) and so did the others in the suppliers stores!

Needs a turn type switch instead of the press on/off switch to prevent accidental switching on (causes flat batteries!)

Small thought to consider, as I met 2 occasions where there was a no entry sign, and had to make a guess where to go next as I was repeatedly instructed to try again?

Needs a way of touching the screen quickly, to report a position for mapping error to update.

I await the fault correction and will be back as Tom Tom is still the best unit potentially.
