“Five weeks before our departure date to Bangkok from...”

General Comments
Five weeks before our departure date to Bangkok from Gatwick we were told by our travel agent that the return flight to Gatwick had been cancelled by Phuket Air. The next available return flight was six days later on 15th April. We decided to extend our stay in Thailand to cover the extra days but of course there were extra problems and expenses incurred.



On checking in to Phuket Air for our return journey to Gatwick on the 15th we were then told that the flight had been cancelled....no reason was given. Coaches were laid on to take us to a hotel for overnight accommodation, but of course there was about a two hour check in time as a jumbo full of people tried to register. Telephone calls had to be made from the hotel regarding our connecting flights from Gatwick etc ...these calls were limited to three minutes and were very expensive....and had to be paid immediately because I assume the hotel thought that Phuket Air would not pay.

The following evening we went to the airport and the Phuket Air 747 finally departed three hours late i.e. 27 hours late in total....but not to Gatwick as we thought but to Amsterdam. On the way we had to stop at Sharja to refuel for an hour.

On arrival at Amsterdam we had a further three hour wait to get a Transavia flight to Gatwick. On arrival at Gatwick we then had to sort out our connecting flight to Guernsey because by this time we were about thirty hours later than expected.



Why do Phuket Air have to refuel in Sharja on the way back but not on the way out?



Who is going to pay for the necessary phone calls I had to make?



Why didn't Phuket Air apologise for the delay and inform us as to why we were delayed?



My insurance will not pay out until Phuket Air tell me what the delay was due to ...but of course they cannot be contacted
