Delta Kiosk Check In... "You MUST use the Kiosk first"

I'm writing this because it actually played out like a Seinfeld routine.

My daughter planned a trip to visit us with our new infant grandchild from Europe.

I've frequently traveled Delta and found their customer service excellent.

In fact, leaving Europe with the infant was a pleasant experience.

When booking the flight, my daughter was instructed to go directly to the ticket agent.

She was also instructed to remember on her return flight to go directly to the ticket agent and not the kiosk.

However on the return check in at ATL my daughter starts to walk with the baby to the ticket agent line where she is met by a "Delta greeter" who instructs her to go to the kiosk. She politely explains what had been told to her by the other Delta ticket agents. At this point, he crosses his arms and stands a bit taller and says "NO, you must go to the kiosk check-in first." Since I was helping her with her luggage and being a Mom, I asked "Why won't you let us go to the ticket agent?"

He replies.. "Because it is my job to make you go to the kiosk first!" We are now joined by another Delta greeter who reiterates the same rules and offers to escort us to the kiosk and help us check in. We go along and she types in the coded number and amazingly a message flashes across the screen "GO TO THE TICKET AGENT".

So unless the kiosk check in machine tells you to, you are not allowed to go to the ticket agent.......LOL
