“From the start it didn't bode well. There were chavs...”

Written on: 21/08/2010

From the start it didn't bode well. There were chavs hanging about outside in their swimming costumes having a fag and the entrance and grounds were dirty and overgrown. When we went in the glass and tiles were all dirty and smeary. Wwe paid anyway (£55 for 2 adults and 3 children) and I couldn't quite believe that people in outdoor shoes could get right up to poolside. The changing roms are accessed by a steep set of stairs which were dirty due to people in trainers going up them and wet because of the pool - I dread to think about all the cross contamination going on there!

My children were straight in though and loved it. I went round the "lazy river" with my daughter which was realy just a channel of stagnant water as none of the "currents" seemed to be switched on.

The water was cloudy, "soupy" looking and cold. More than one plaster and sweet wrapper swam past me. The metal structures were rusting and bits of foam were peeling off and hanging loose everwhere. I did not get more that waist deep as the whole place was skanky and filthy.

The changing room floors were covered in hair and mud despite 2 attendants standing there with mops. The whole place seemed to be being run by 16 year old, one of whic (a lifeguard) was permantently attached to her phone.

Having said all that my children loved it and were there for 3 hours. They received a good scrub in the (cold) showers and another one when they got home.

We will not be going back.
