“Un-Delivered Package”

written by lathaela on 14/11/2016

Package alleged to have been sent by one of their clients, and alleged to have been delivered "through letter box".
The letter box is NOT accessible, locked.
ALL my mail from Royal Mail is "Call and Collect", my mail is NOT delivered.
UK Mail's driver said he delivered through the letter box, when told that it is locked, he then stated that he had rung the door bell and given it to an elderly man. Not possible, door bell disconnected for peace and quite, (I am 70). Live on my and was NOT at home.
Spent a lot of time on the telephone seeking a resolution to NO avail.
Then wrote the following letter on the 19th October 2016 to a senior member of UK Mail, (sent Royal Mail Special delivery), have got proof of delivery.
As of now they have NOT had the professional business courtesy to either acknowledge or reply.

"I refer to the alleged delivery of a package bearing the above consignment number. From your client.
You are formally advised that the said package has never been delivered to the address.
Notwithstanding that it is not my responsibility to pursue the matter with you, I have expended a great deal of time and effort attempting a satisfactory resolution.
Under the Law of Agency, it is the responsibility of your client to pursue the matter with you. However, they are less than interested in the matter and issues arising, and have avoided their responsibility.
I have contacted the depot that it is alleged it was delivered from.
I have contacted your Leeds office, the team leader).
It is impossible to deliver anything through the letter box, it is permanently locked, and not accessible.
There is a notice around the letter box flap – “Do Not Deliver Mail, Call and Collect”. All mail and parcels are on a Call and Collect arrangement with Royal Mail, and is collected personally.
This arrangement has been ongoing for a number of years and is one of the strategies in place to manage mental ill health.
Furthermore, on the date and time that it was alleged to have been delivered, I was not at the address. I was collecting from the Royal Mail Sorting Office, and carrying out other activities.
The delivery person has given more than one scenario with regards to the alleged delivery which in them-selves are contradictory.
The opinion is and the honest and genuine belief that the package has gone astray
This is likely to breach principle seven of the Data Protection Act, (DPA) and amendments, (keeping person-al data secure).
