“Do not hire from Maggiore Car Rental, Turin Airport”

I was looking to hire a car from Turin Airport in September 2016, and using a comparison site i found what appeared to be a good deal with Maggiore car Rental, so booked it. I also took out a separate car hire excess insurance. Upon arrival at the car rental desk at Turin Airport there was a discussion about insurance and i explained that i had excess insurance and that i did not want to take out their insurance. I was presented with the rental agreement to sign in order for the car to be released to me. It also came with a full tank of fuel and that it was to be returned with a full tank of fuel otherwise i'd have to pay them to do it which would be more expensive.
The car was a Fiat 500 and it was clean. I had no problems with the car at all.On the return to Turin Airport at the end of my stay i found a filling station at the airport. It was an automated prepay type. I put some money into the machine then put the fuel into the tank. I found it wasn't enough to fill the tank, so put some more money and filled the tank until it was full. I realised that i had put too much money into the machine for the amount needed to completely fill the tank, but got no change.
I then returned the car and handed the keys back to a representative from the car rental company who came and checked the car in my presence, and told me everything was ok.
After returning back to the UK and upon receiving a credit card statement a month later discovered a sum of 53.31 euros had been taken by the car rental company.
I checked their website and found a bill for this amount. It was broken down into a sum of 10.50 for windscreen protection, 24.50 for roadside assistance, 5.38 for 3 litres of missing fuel, 1.68 for an airport charge and 1.64 for an admin charge.
I checked the rental agreement I signed at the airport when i collected the car and now see that there was an agreement with traveljigsaw to pay these charges written on it that i had signed for but it was pointed out at that time there would be these extra charges, so didn't expect to be charged further.

My advice is to be aware of these charges if you hire a car from Maggiore Car Rental from Turin Airport, and also get a staff member to check the fuel gauge is full in your presence when returning the car.Despite that I did it, i was still charged for missing fuel, and 3 litres is a significant amount.

I would therefore recommend you go elsewhere and avoid this company. I contacted the company with whom i took out the excess insurance and they said as the car wasn't damaged at all, i'm not covered by them for this.
