I have just completed a first module in an MA in art history with the OU. It has been a really horrible experience, and i feel better by reading some of the reviews on here.
Shortly after paying and registering on the course; 2 tma's in i am informed i am not qualified to study the course. I ask for a refund, the answer is no. I ask why i was not informed about this during registration. I am informed that i should have looked at the diagnostics part of the website. I did not use the website until i was given a user name ans password-after registering and paying.
I continue with the course, as no refund is offered, and £1400 is quite a lot of money. I am near the pass mark, but i sense a arbitrary nature in my tutors comments and responses.
I complain about the raltionship between my tutor and myself-halfway through the course.
During the remainder of the course the raltionship between my tutor becomees more fraught. I recieve the two lowest marks throughout the module and an email from my tutor-in the same day- in a clandestine manner stating her knowledge of my complaint (and the name of the person i complained to.
I took this through all stages of the complaints and appeals process (which was almost as time consuming as the course itself). when i recieve the outcome of my complaint it appears they just fudged it.
As for the forums; as the above have stated, i couldn't put it better myself.
