I have met many OU drop outs with the same feelings as 'Bob'. It is hard, bloody hard at times, and very few who start have the staying power and commitment to make it to the end. I completed my degree in 5 1/2 years. Many times I felt that it was a waste of time but persevered until the end. I did not find it was a machine, or indeed money making, I thought it great value for money as you pay for the course and then get the materials.



Now here's the thing, you actually have to WORK for your degree, it is not an attendance course. Maybe 'Bob' thought that was the case. Sorry mate degrees are not free nor are they for everyone, for me it was a great experience and I value the learning I gained from it.
