Post Office Travel money card
I thought this was a good way to safely carry my currency for our American holiday, the reasons I now think it is not are as follows:
When withdrawing cash from an ATM, when you could find one that accepted the card, there was a charge of $2.50 to $3.00, ok I accepted that, then you find that there is another charge levied by the card provider for another $3.00, so $6.00 to withdraw cash, whatever the amount.
As suggested above the card did not work in more terminals than it did.,
The rate when loading the card is not the greatest, but I accepted that for the convenience (perceived), but on returning home the exchange rate to withdraw your funds is disgusting, also the fees appear to be high, I say appear because the information does not let you see what the charges are. Just know that after a withdrawal, the available balance showed that the charge must have been £6.38, strange amount!
In summary there has to be better options.
