“Molly Maid – worse than you can imagine.”

written by Bluebellsinthespring on 05/08/2016

We were looking for a cleaner and Molly Maid seemed to fit the bill. Expensive but then you get what you pay for or not in this case.
We are both in our 70’s and finding it difficult to keep on top of the housework as we have quite a large property, and several health issues.
The initial interview went quite well and we were impressed, a little more to pay than we thought but was told they would do a deep clean for £100 to bring the house up to scratch and then fortnightly to keep the housework under control. We were not given a choice about the first clean it was all or nothing really.
Firstly they turned up 4hrs late as they were sent somewhere else first. They brought their equipment in, the vacuum cleaner was old and well past its shelf life with no tools and the cloths, bucket and mop looked really manky, we’ve replaced equipment and cloths in better order than theirs. Are their vacuum cleaners PAT tested we wonder?
We largely left them to it so as not to be breathing down their necks, probably a mistake. They rushed about here and there and 2 hours later said ‘were finished’ and left. At a quick glance the house looked OK, but the next day things didn’t look so clean and gradually over the next day it was obvious that some things were actually dirtier than before they came. They only spray and give a cursory wipe, not making sure any dirt or dust is completely removed not our idea of cleaning let alone a deep clean. They seem to have developed a knack of looking busy and doing a lot but in reality are not doing anything properly.
They must live in round houses with round windows as they don’t do corners, they don’t do handles either. I felt like one of those B&B owners from 4 in a Bed going round looking and collecting dust with my finger from nooks and crannies.
The paperwork states that Molly Maid will only use the clients equipment and products if they meet with Health and Safety requirements.... but what about the clients Health and Safety requirements? Were all the dirty marks in our house actually transferred from their previous clean/client? Makes me feel sick just thinking about all the possible cross contamination.
The girls were friendly but no way professional cleaners as stated by Molly Maid. The definition of professional is someone who is paid for their work, but it doesn’t mean they are trained, qualified or any good at it.
We e-mailed the owner to cancel the next clean and said why but her reply indicated she wasn’t at all concerned, very unprofessional!
Wish we had seen this site before letting them loose on our house.
Never again. We’d advise anyone not to waste their money.
We now have a lovely lady cleaning 2hours a week and she does a brilliant job at nearly half the price of Molly Maid.
