I booked two consecutive appointments at Tesco opticians in Crewe. I had the initial tests and was told to wait. Having, subsequently, been ignored for 15 minutes, I was eventually approached and asked "are you all right there". My answer was in the negative and I asked to speak with the manager. Upon being informed that the lady who enquired as to my status was the manager, I informed her that I was not happy being kept waiting while she gossipped with colleagues and a friend who she identified as someone she "used to work with in electrical". I then left and immediately telephoned Tesco customer services. I raised a complaint and was assured that a regional manager would call be back "within 14 days". That was 26 days ago and I still await the 'phone call!
Yesterday, I went to Asda opticians in Crewe. I received courteous, professional, and prompt service and ordered two new pairs of glasses. Apart from the fact that, by my calculation, I saved more than £100 by choosing Asda, I would urge anyone not to use Tesco; even if they were giving glasses away.
