“They sell your information to nuisance callers”

I have recently been hounded by admiral's customer service team for full details including paper, online and card copies of licenses for me and my additional driver. They were also asking for full driving history and a council tax bill of some sort, and now I can see why.

Turns out, the date of birth of my additional driver was, for some reason, my date of birth. Clearly the team saw dollar signs in their eyes otherwise I wouldn't have been hounded so much. While I see that I can be partly to blame for this mistake, the correct date of birth for my additional driver was given on the phone when I purchased my insurance. Surely the mistake was evident there, so why wasn't it addressed? I feel I've been shafted here. They then expect me to pay an additional £160, on top of the £90 worth of extras I was sold which really should have been included in the policy anyway! What is the reason that minor mistake wasn't pointed out to me when purchasing my policy, and why has it taken 2 months for them to decide they want more money from me?

On top of all that, I also don't really appreciate my phone number has been given to PPI, accident claims and insurance salesmen, and I've had constant nuisance calls since purchasing my insurance. Is that because I purchased extra cover from them, am I an easy target because I purchased more than just the bog standard insurance from them. Disgusting business attitude in my opinion, and will certainly never go with them again. I expected far more from an established insurance company with a reputation to uphold.
