“A real weight off our shoulders”

Over the last four and a half years we have paid back over £30,500 and apart from our mortgage we don't owe anything to anyone. We are debt free at long last. The debts were entirely our own fault, holidays, Christmas presents, birthdays, weddings you name it we put it on the credit card. It finally got to the point that we were struggling to make the minimum payments and realised that even making minimum payment it would take years to pay it all back. We finally plucked up the courage to talk to StepChange and they talked to our creditors on our behalf, assisted us with a budget, and set us up with a DMP. Only one of our creditors refused to make any concessions otherwise we would have had it all paid back sooner. Now we have paid back everything, are still sticking to our DMP budget and are nearly £600 a month better off. Life is so much better now that we don't have all that debt hanging over us and it's thanks to StepChange. If you want out of the financial mess you are in contact them and they will help you. They don't care how much debt you have or how you came to owe it, they do not judge you in any way.
