The yamaha beech kits should be on every pro's shortlist. My personal experience is, never have I played a kit that ive wanted to keep going back too more, they lure you like a holy grail !!!! Fat tone,exceptional tuning ability, bass drum to die for, only the full floating sleishmans can get fatter tone & more range out of a drum than these,with Beech/bubinga Sonor/tamas probably the only others on par. I used to have 3 yamaha kits setup side by side, Maple absolute,Birch Absolute & beech absolute. Maple was great for warmth,birch the obvious studio set, but the beech was irresistable in all respects ! I would acually get depressed if I couldnt get on & caress these babies every few days. Nothing needs to be said about the hardware etc, typical yamaha brilliance.
