General Comments
I've had my HP Compaq NX9010 since September 2003 and I'm still satisfied with it's performance. The model I have is the HP nx9010(DG232A) with 256MB of RAM and a 2.66 GHz P4 processor. The graphics card is OK (ATI Radeon IGP 345M with 64MB of memory) and I've been able to play some games (e.g. Hitman 2, UT2004, Mafia) without much of a problem. The newer games (e.g. Splinter Cell, Ravenshield) take so long to start and render so horribly, its not worth bothering. Of course I could add more RAM, but a 256MB RAM chip is about $193.50 in this country (Namibia).

The hard-drive runs fine. I can hibernate the computer without any major issues, but when the laptop was newer it would crash if I tried to hibernate. Now, the problem seems to have solved itself.

The network bridge is especially useful to manage the 3 types of connections you can create. Plus it has a PCMCIA expansion slot, which is what I used to use to connect to the Internet on my old Compaq Armada 1700.

The location of the fans; on the left side, can be a bit of an annoying factor coz it heats up the keyboard during hot weather. The combination of the P4 processor and a very average battery means you only have about 2hrs 30mins before you require mains power. It will also depend on what you're doing on the comp.

All in all its an attractive laptop and pretty decent for everyday use.
