“Processed the claim and paid up!”

I must say usually getting money out of travel insurance companies is a nightmare, but with Virgin Money i was pleasantly surprised. My Wife and I were stranded due to bad weather returning from Canada over Christmas 2015 with Aer Lingus ( DO NOT FLY AER LINGUS long haul they are atrocious).

The airline effectively ditched us without a hotel or information on where/when our next flight would leave, so we missed our connecting flights. This meant at our expense we had to book a hotel for the night and flights home the next day from the USA, they were NOT cheap. Virgin Travel did require quite a high level of proof as to the circumstances; emails from airlines, receipts and it did take a few months to process but in the end they paid me back most of the very large cost. The staff in the claims centre were actually quite nice as well. All in all I feel fairly treated for once.
