Good Points
Build quality you come to expect from a company like BMW. Styling, power delivery, comfort, braking and riding enjoyment just simply leaves a huge smile on your face every time you go out on it. The power just leaves you breathless. For such a heavy bike it is extremely balanced even when taking B road corners. You do need to have the confidence and strength to throw it into corners but once you have the technique you will have a blast. I can not comment on BMW servicing because as yet not needed one. I have read in a number of reviews that the K1200S has poor fuel consumption but I would challenge the critics as I get +170 miles out of the 19 litre tank and I don't hang about and my trip to and from work is half cross country and half motorway. The consumption is better than the Aprilia I had which had a 21 litre tank!
Bad Points
Maybe it is me getting used to shaft drive but I get a vibration at certain revs and speeds. The bike does not like crawling speeds and can be jerking as the revs pick and drop off. The accelerator is a little too twitchy. I am currently getting a squeal from the front brakes when braking at low speeds which is a little annoying - will get someone to check them out as the pads appear fine.
General Comments
I have no regrets buying the K1200S as it always leaves me wanting to ride that bit further. With the handling and the awesome power it begs you to ride which gets you as fast out of trouble as get you into trouble. I had an Aprilia Sports Tourer before the K1200S but I wouldn't go back. The K1200S looks great, feels great and people are amazed when they see it that it's a BMW.
