“Rip off merchants”

Hired a van to empty of late fathers house, they kept adding charges on the day, reducing excess fees etc, they were really busy and did a quick scoot round the van and hubby signed, was no dents nothing now on return they say there is a pressure dent ! Taken photos can't see a thing!!!! Now being idiots, Won't release our deposit, a deposit which when we booked the van we weren't informed about! Absolute rip off merchants, took photos of the van after and no dent
They said excess was £1000 but then if we paid an extra £48 they would reduce to £200!!!!!! No mention of this before.
Deposit was £200 again no mention of this before.
They were so busy one guy came out and beckoned the other guy back in, didn't do a thorough check! They missed it and they know it!
Why do they not take photos of the van when you take it
