“Although calcium and magnesium are good for you, they...”

Written on: 11/06/2008 by Waterman19191

Good Points
Its a carbon filter, so it will improve taste.

Bad Points
It didn't do anything for the hardness in my case. I still saw calcium deposits and spotting on everything. This means it probably will not extend the life of your appliances nor will it give you the 75% cut back in soaps that a softener does. I think you are better off getting a softener with an added carbon filter.

General Comments
Although calcium and magnesium are good for you, they are in a non organic form in the water. You are better off taking a vitamin or eating healthy the relying on your water for these items. Hard water might even increase the risk of kidney stones. Your kidneys are forced to filter it out, leaving residual. Eat your veggies and you'll be fine. Culligan offers a 2 in 1 carbon/softener system that works great. Either way, I find Lifesource is just a over priced carbon filter. Be prepared to continue the heavy cleaning and see the heavy spotting.
