Good Points
If you're staying there, it's right next to the Stratford Alcester Travelodge.
Bad Points
Slow service.
Miserable looking food, served cold.
Wildly overpriced.
General Comments
When we went to the Little Chef in Alcester, we ordered two plates of scrambled eggs with side orders of mushrooms, toast and jam for our two children, two orange juices, and a two mugs of tea.... and we waited, and waited, and waited.
It was breakfast time, and since this Little Chef is right next to a Travelodge, you'd think they'd be geared up for providing breakfast. They're not. Only two serving staff, and (I'd guess) one cook. When the scrambled eggs on toast were delivered, they were grey looking and not very warm. Butter for the childrens' toast was rationed to one little block each (which wasn't enough), and one microscopic jar of jam. We were given only one side order of mushrooms, but we had ordered two. After pointing this out, the other lot came 10 minutes later. And for £1.50 you get the grand total of 3 mushrooms, bathed in liquid and not very warm.
On leaving, we had to wait ages while a waitress poked at the till buttons with a pen, and clearly forgot to press an "Enter" button on her till - meaning we stood there for about two minutes until she realised what had happened.
For the privilege of waiting ages to be served very basic food, which was cold and badly presented, we had to pay an outrageous £14+. Clearly Little Chef has not changed its ways at all since the change of ownership!
