Decided to take out car insurance with Saga as they are advertisements stress they are for the over 50's. What a joke. After someone ran into my car I managed to get two witness names and contact details in case of any future complications. I telephoned their so called claims department and explained the accident in detail and was immediately told that it was my fault. After arguing my case for several minutes the lady informed me that her company work on behalf of Saga for all claims and she would have to check with her superiors. Someone from this claim company telephoned a few days later and asked me the same questions to which I had to explain in detail again exactly what happened. He said that he had actually tried to draw out the scenario to better understand the situation and eventually agreed that it would be a 50% to 50% case and I would have to claim my half of the expense myself. Once again I had to argue my case and informed him that I was not willing to pay anything as it was not my fault. He then informed me that my claim would be forwarded to the Saga claims team. After several weeks I received a telephone call from Saga who informed me that they had now received my claim details and one of the witness statements saying that I was stationary when the opther car hit me. He also mentioned that I would be kept informed once the other witness statement arrived. Another few weeks passed before I received another phone call to say the other witness statement had arrived which verified my original statements and that this information would now be put to their legal team.I was put on hold at this time.He then informed me that my claim would be sent to the other partys insurance company as they all agreed that I was not at fault. He then informed me that I would have to pay the £250 excess towards this claim as I did-not have legal protection. This begs the question as to why I had taken out fully comprehensive insurance in the first place if I had to pay out even if I was not at fault. After he tried to justify this excess charge I informed him to just drop the whole the claim as it I was not willing to pay out anything. To conclude. Even if the Saga motor insurance premium is cheaper do-not take it as they will not admit to anything, nor will they help you make a claim against the other party if at fault.
