“Rubbish stay at Lourdas Beach View villa”

We went to Kefalonia in August 2015 and unfortunately, this was definitely not the holiday we booked and the VillaPlus description of the villa has been very misleading.

Lie 1 - Quiet location 70 yards from a Taverna

The Andromeda (the Taverna 70 yards away was closed), instead it was turned into a function centre with several hundred guests for 3 continuous nights. They had a PA system (mega loud) and fireworks till 1am and beyond, each night. The music was so loud, even with the shutters closed on the Villa windows and doors, you could hear the loud noise and also feel the vibrations too.

We were so tired (over tired) and struggled to sleep. We (including our child) all had bags under our eyes for days and this was supposed to be a holiday to relax and unwind?

Lie 2 - Wi-fi available

All in all, we had about 2 hours use (not per day, in total for the week), most of the time we couldn’t connect. We had an android phone, iPhone and and iPad and all three struggled with browsing, in fact we were lucky if one device would work satisfactorily. This was due to the very high contention, as the wireless is supplied by the Andromeda Function centre and when there’s a function on, you can kiss the internet good bye. In fact, if I got up real early, I could get some browsing done but getting up early after having my head pounded by the sound of ‘YMCA’ and WHAM jitter bug, till the early hours was believe me very difficult.

There’s also a back up wireless connection from the Eleni Hotel which again was very poor, the contention again causing problems, simply because too many people were sharing the connections.

When a few hundred people were at a function at the Andromeda Function centre, you couldn’t even connect to the internet because they were all on it, so after 4pm, the internet was dead. Before 4pm wifi was very poor and patchy. When VillaPlus state the villa has an internet connection, they should be honest and state ‘wifi is shared with a function centre and a hotel so maybe very patchy at times especially in the evening when it’s over subscribed’.

Lie 3 - Duped by VillaPlus

Rep harrassed us, saying they felt really bad about the noise and disturbances we had to endure. They kept coming to the villa, calling, texting ... "I will really feel better if I can do something for you". It was a total ruse designed to get us to accept a free meal so they wouldn't have to pay any compensation. In our vulnerable state we accepted (we see now how we we manipulated) and the taxi never showed up, so we were all dressed and ready to go out.. Wasted evening. Eventually we did go out and eat, but it was a bribe to stop us getting any compensation.

What really riled me was the letter from VillaPlus listing all the other people who'd stayed there and who'd given great reviews. Great that really makes me feel good, that someone else had a great time and that's more important than me and my family not even having an adequate time.

Correspondence

All correspondence is designed to make you look stupid as it was your fault and never VillaPlus. They are not interested in helping you, they want to dupe you and make sure they don't have to do anything. We will never use them again. For the money we paid (lot as it was August and supposedly a 5 star villa), we expected a decent service which we never got.
