My elderly parents made the mistake of going into a Thomson travel agent to book a flight to come and visit me in New Zealand. I had looked on Singapore Airlines website that same morning and there were flights on there for 1,986 pounds. When I spoke to my mum that evening she told me they had paid 2,600 pounds!!! I told my mum to go back to the travel agent and ask why they had paid over 600 pounds above what they needed to and why was it that the agent didn't get them the best deal. They went back to the agent the next day and were told 'too bad' as they had signed and agreed to that price and the flights were 'unrefundable'.
These are pensioners that have saved for years to come and visit me and my family in New Zealand and have basically been ripped off and been told too bad. There are still flights on the Singapore airlines website so they are flights available, but they are still unwilling to do anything to help them.
I sent them messages today on FB and was told the same that there was nothing they could do. Not one person in head office could have changed the flights and got them a better deal, not one. My parents are willing to pay a cancelation fee but even then they would still be better off.
Is it their staffs policy to get unsuspecting pensioners the most expensive flights so they can get a bigger commission???. They had even be charged for 'flexi' flights which is why they were supposedly more expensive....not very flexible are they???
The service they have received is an absolute disgrace.
