“Betta Living Kitchens”

written by Churchill46 on 26/01/2016

Having done the rounds I soon discovered there's a bad apple in most kitchen brands/companies and fitters. Sad to say this but my choice ended up with who had the least amount of complaints.

I must say the worst experience was Betta Living. A chap called round and spent 4 hours designing, talking and trying to sell their kitchen. The design was ok, the designer was ok, the kitchen units were run of the mill. Each company I spoke to had the best units, quality beyond anyone else's!

Betta Living quoted £9k for 15 units and included a fridge and an extractor fan. The unit range was mid gloss and looked nice.

After 4 hours of extracting a price out of the sales guy, we said it was too much for what we were getting, he then started randomly tapping his calculator buttons and said he had room to discount it to £8500.

We still said no thanks and we wouldn't sign anything on the spot anyway.

He then decided to get the BS manual out of his briefcase. "You won't get a better kitchen for this price!", "if you sign tonight I can get you a better deal!", "I can phone the manager to see if we can reduce our margins to get to a figure that suits you!", "the deal is a one off and wont be offered again!", "you would be silly to miss out on this deal for this quality!"

Sure enough, after the BS we were offered the kitchen at £7500. We still said no at which point we asked him to leave.

2 days later we get a phone call from the BS head office (or trade department...as if!!). We were asked if we were happy with the design and the sales person, we were then told that by Betta Living 'Trade department' that they wanted to be honest and sell us the kitchen at trade price with free fitting, they said they were not interested in profit and just wanted to add to their turnover?

If you read google Betta Living reviews you would think they are the bees knees, if you read forum reviews then you get a true picture of their brand and sales techniques.

Having spent weeks reading real experiences of Betta Living customers and ones that walked away plus we spoke to kitchen fitters, we certainly made the right choice to ignore their tactics.
