“contact lens problem”

written by nar9 on 25/01/2016

Today 25 jan 2016 I went to the Boots store in Exeter. On my way into the store some grit blew into my eye and I could feel it in my eye scratching and it felt like it had found its way between my contact lens and my eyeball. I was en route to the photo department. Whilst in the photo dept I found my eye was getting worse and I needed to clean the contact lens a.s.a.p. As I was in Boots and near to the opticians dept I thought I would ask them if they could help.
I went to the desk and asked a female member of staff if she could help. I was asked if I bought my contact lenses from Boots. I told them I did not. The assistant told me that I would need to make an appointment and that they would charge me £35.00. All I needed was somewhere that was hygenic so that I could wash my hands use some fluid to clean the lens.
The service I received was dreadful and I would expect any optician to be sympathetic in the circumstances as any delay could cause long term damage.
I left the store without making my purchase in the photo dept. I went in search of Specsavers which is the company I purchase my contact lenses from. I found them further along the road. I wrnt to the reception desk and explained my problem. Iwas invited to go upstairs where I would find handbasins, soap, fluid and mirror all of which I could make use of free of charge. They were happy to offer this service without asking if I wss one of their customers.
Boots opticians should take a look at the service provided by Specsavers. They could learn a great deal in how to treat people and win customers.
