“Stacey post partum psychosis.”

written by Ladysandcastle on 23/01/2016

Having suffered from post partum psychosis, almost 19 years ago, I find it quite offensive to see the way in which this is portrayed and acted out by stacey in eastenders. The whimpering and stuttering was so unrealistic. When I had it I was on a bloody high, going shoplifting and smashing Windows with hammers. I had no hallucinations, never heard nothing but just a desire to steal and collect things. I never felt depression and did not want to harm myself or baby. Like stacey I was sectioned, and my baby taken away. After a month we got put in a mother and baby unit and I had treatment, and cared for my baby under supervision. However, it ruined my life, I lost my job and had social services trying to take my baby off me. When I returned home they stayed in my life for years. I was treat like a criminal. My daughter is 19 next week and seeing this on eastenders brought it back to me. It's no picnic.
