“Cheap and good enough”

We booked through Car jet who we have used multiple times with different car companies (Malaga car hire, Marbella, centauro, gold car)we have always read in detail what is to be expected in their terms and conditions and we have always taken out the additional excess insurance through a 3rd party company (found on moneysavingexpert for a fraction of the cost £15ish/week)just for peace of mind, we have never had an issue with any of the companies and we have never had to claim on the additional insurance.
This was exactly the same with this company. We knew in advance about their fuel policy, the 1000euro deposit and what else to expect and worked along with that and we had no issues.
However, reading all the negative reviews before we left made us a little worried so on picking up the car we did a full inspection, making sure to take pictures of the scratches and marks not noted on the sheet, including the broken luggage shelf, again just for our peace of mind - because even with added insurance you don't want to be accused of damage you didn't do!
Also, there was no pressure as some other reviewers said to buy their insurance - we stated we had our own and that was it.
The car itself could have been better, there were a few bumps n bruises and the handles were a little tatty on the inside, the luggage cover broken and the brakes a little grating - not the best condition hire car we have ever had but it did the job and cost 50 euros for a week - you cant expect too much.
On return they did a quick walk round inspection of the car - nothing mentioned, all fine and two days later a full refund of the deposit appeared in our account.
I think mainly the few bad experiences are sent as reviews - I must admit I have never left a review on any other car hire company we have had despite them being fine, and having had a quick look at the reviews of other companies we have used at Malaga airport their ratings and reviews are just as bad if not worse than del paso and again were always good for us.
