There has not been a single stage of the many-staged process for opening and managing a Post Office simple current account that has not been fraught with problems. Even the telephone reception is terrible. Every transaction requires either a mobile phone-delivered security code or a letter-delivered security code, and every time I try to use the mobile-based version the code does not arrive and my phone is deactivated on the PO system. Letters also do not arrive, so I never receive the promised codes to set up new payees. When I call to try and get this sorted out I am offered the option of a manual transfer at a cost of £21. I am reduced to withdrawing my money from a cash point and manually paying it in to the beneficiary's account. Not a single aspect of this service has ever worked smoothly, and the promised calls 'by a manager' to sort out problems never materialise. I've even been told it 'must be my browser' or I 'must have a block on my mobile phone' leading me to add my partner's mobile and download a new browser. No change. If you want your blood pressure to go up exponentially, get a PO current account.
