I bought a kitchen from Wickes. It was fitted and I am regretful of treating the fitters in a friendly way, rather than a business like way. The first problem was that the washing machine connection wasn`t tightened enough and leaked in the cupboard which made the cupboard swell. This had to be replaced... but was never the same , even afterwards. Cracked wall tiles became apparent ! The double sink was badly fitted. THE WORK TOPS ALTHOUGH JOINED (apparently sealed with you would think, with waterproof glue) FAILED AND EDGED RISED ! The more you look at just small things with the kitchen, the more you realise... how bad it actually is !Floor tiles that collapse, failing grout, missing grout, water appearing in draws where it shouldnt. Now you would expect that the kitchen cabinet doors in front of the sink would have some kind of extra coating, that answer would be no ! So the cupboard doors would have to be replaced regularly. Interestingly... when you contact WICKES about fault in your kitchen... they dont have the correct information on their computer, if indeed they have a computer ! My kitchen had a 5 year guarantee... they told me that this wasnt so ! So I sent them the guarantee. Then they sent me an alleged Independent kitchen inspector from the Ombudsman that... phoned me up and asked me to contact him... WITHOUT LEAVING A CONTACT NUMBER. Then the same guy phoned me up and made an appointment, only to move it forward by 24 hours. On the day he turned up an hour late ! Being independent , you would think that any report would be sent direct to the customer as well as WICKES, thats a no ! So I have no official documentation from this man and he could be anyone off the street ! You may well spend thousands of pounds on a WICKES KITCHEN... but this is something that has a 2 year guarantee and needs to be replaced every 5 years.... So you shouldnt , if you want less stress ! NEVER AGAIN !
