I made the mistake of waltzing into Metrobank & opening a personal account. All seemed to go well for the first few months. As a high Earner making over £500k per annum some quite large amounts of money come into my account, & on a similar vein I live large & like to spend it.
After about 6 months I received notification that my accountwas being closed. No explanation was given other then that they suspect I was using my personal account for business purposes. I went to great length to show that this was not the case & detailed each large transaction they found suspicious clearly demonstrating that no business transactions had occurred.
I then took this up with their head office; a particularly useless & deceptive gaggle. I was given numerous assurances that I would be written to & given details of their reasons for not re-instating my account, but have yet to receive any correspondence from them.
All in all it was a rubbish experience banking with them & I would counsel anyone considering joining them to do so with the greatest of caution & reserve. Unless you don't mind having your banking arrangements cancelled whilst you are abroad & all the drama that entails such as being on holiday with an account containing £10,000 that you can no longer access to pay for your kids ski lessons etc.
