“I switched to alliance and leicester bank recently...”

I switched to alliance and leicester bank recently following the £100 cash back offer. All was well for first two months and I ever had to talk to there customer services.



They advertise cheque clearing times and 4 working days in their terms of service given to you, but in fact if its a cheque over £1000 they take 7 working days to clear it (which they don't tell you in T and Cs. It's their way of stealing customers money for some days for free to earn some interest on high value cheques.



I was hit with this problem as my cheque is about to clear after 7 working days, their customer service was appalling. Every single person I had talked to over the phone in their customer service office told me different info about the cheque clearance, the local branch manager was clueless of his bank's processes of cheque clearing times.



They were ignoring the fact that they agreed to clear cheques in 4 days clearly and continue to talk like headless chickens about 7 working days being the standard across the banking industry.



It's below average and they don't deserve to be in the banking sector. They look cheap and their way to do business is cheap. Certainly they can get customers by paying £100 cash. But they can't retain it as they don't have the capacity to do large scale banking.



I am moving my bank account back to where I was before once and forever and will say bye bye to shoddy alliance and leicester.
