“Cheap insurance but rubbish service. One to avoid!”

Have had insurance from Norwich Union, who are now Aviva and own QMH, in the past and found them to be the worst insurer I have ever used in 20+ years of driving. Been with QMH for a few months and was hit whilst parked in a car park unattended. The other driver, to his credit, left me a note and liability was sorted the same evening. He was with Aviva so no issues there.

The problems started from there. The repairer they nominated, Nationwide, Gateshead branch couldn't repair it for a month. Then when I needed to arrange the courtesy car, I rang Europcar but they had no record of the booking with QMH and suggested I ring the insurer. It took about 3 calls to arrange the car.

The biggest issue arose when I had to go to the repairer to collect something which I had left in the car. When I was taken round to my car, which was in their back yard, I was shocked to discover that it had been left out overnight with the boot left fully open to the elements. Luckily it had not rained but there was dew on the edge of the boot.

When I went into the car I noticed that it was filthy, there was white powder all over the leather seats, door interior and mats. They had clearly not bothered to put any plastic seat covers on it when doing their work or paper mats down. They admitted this when I complained.

I have since complained to QMH and had an apologetic call from the repairer but silence from QMH.

I swore not to use Norwich Union over ten years ago when I had an appalling experience and they don't seem to have improved at all since. As a previous reviewer said, they are cheap for a reason. Don't use them.
