“Mail order service a waste of time”

I ordered 2 tea light candle holders as a gift for a golden wedding anniversary and chose to use the on line ordering service as the nearest shop to me is a 50 mile round trip, and I did not have time to make the journey.
When the package arrived only one had been delivered with no explanation as to where the other was and an invoice indicating 2 had been sent.
Contacted customer services, who didn't seem too surprised by this - I was told the warehouse has this problem like this is a frequent issue.
The best that could be offered is a replacement that would take 7 days to arrive, too late for the gift to be given, or a refund for the missing item so that I could go and find a replacement in a local store.
As a result I took the latter option to find it takes 3 weeks to get a refund, not to mention the inconvenience of having a 50 mile round trip and having to take time off work in order to sort out their problem.
Definitely would never use the online ordering service again and found customer services to be very unaccomodating
