“DW fitness Poole Dorset.... Appalling ”

written by Tingle on 29/09/2015

After writing the below letter to DW fitness, the response from the manager was that there was little that could be done. I will continue to pay my remaining 9 months membership despite pledging never to attend this gym again.

Dear DW fitness,

Having joined your gymnasium (Poole Dorset branch) in July, I have been frequenting the facility on a weekly basis. I am writing to highlight how utterly disappointed I am with the facility as a whole and the type of behavior that is conducted by members on a regular basis.
The first of which being the open conversations conducted by clients, regarding the use of steroids; on two occasions I have been subject to such discussions.
I find this not only intimidating but contradictory within a facility designed to promote healthy living.
I understand there is little you can do in regards to this epidemic, however I am sure you understand, as a paying member, I should not be subject to such grotesque behavior.
There are also a few other less important but equally disappointing issues I would like to address; the first of which being the members training in the weights area in bare feet. I am sure this is in breach of health and safety regulations, and questionable hygiene issues.

The tidiness of the gymnasium I find unacceptable, machines are regularly left loaded with a 80kg + load.
I am recovering from an injury and this renders the equipment useless since I am unable the remove the load.
Finally I would like to highlight the family swim timings, conducted at peak times (ie early evening), surely paying members should be considered the foremost priority in use of the pool, and it should not be inundated with children at the busiest times.
Due to the above reasons I have decided to stop using your facility, this decision has not been a hasty one and see no reason why I should have to pay for the privilege of tolerating the aforementioned issues.
I am fully aware of my contractual obligation, however would like to think a reputable company such as DW Fitness would be able to facilitate an early contract termination.

I look forward to your response.
