I have a brand new house extension which has been damaged by a water leak from the shower cabin I bought from Victoria Plum.
My builder came out when I had water leaking from my kitchen ceiling and found that water leaks through the shower cabin. He told me to report it to Victoria Plum as the cabin is not fit for purpose. Victoria Plum refunded me the cost of the cabin as it is a manufacturing fault but I have over a £1000 to pay out to sort the damage and Victoria Plum don't want to know.
I reported the damage to them on the 17th July and I didn't get a decision till a few days ago from Victoria Plum. They know I have been without use of this bathroom all this time but they saw no reason to treat me as a priority.
I responded straight away to all their questions but they took days/weeks to get back each time. They asked for photos and quotes for the repair work which they got but a few days ago I finally received a letter offering me money to the value of half the costs of repairs!
I asked if they are not going to give any further money towards the damage would they compromise and give vouchers as well - not that I am going to get another shower cabin ever but I could use the vouchers to get a shower tray, enclosure etc.., that way if there are any leaks I will see them straight away. I then got a phone call from Victoria Plum to say because I wasn't happy with the offer to meet half of the costs they are withdrawing it and are not prepared to pay anything.
VICTORIA PLUM have sold me a shower cabin that had manufacturing faults and due to this has caused me water damage to my home.
I don't think Victoria Plum think the Consumer Protection Act applies to their company! I am now going to advise Trading Standards that I have done all I can and need them to do their bit now. The stress and time this has caused me has been immense. I would never have expected such lack of care from such a big company.
