“Campaigning to close down booking.com”

I lost £308 for an apartment I cancelled 14 days prior to check-in and as I did not know I had been penalised with the full charge, I had booked another. My account in booking.com shows 'CANCELLED' without additional info so I assumed it was without any charge. I booked another apartment with tripadvisor which we did use.

I did not know because the link to cancellation policy did not state anything except that they were different for different rooms and when I clicked on the roon, it says nothing. As booking.com stated free cancellation and I knew I would make the decision within days of my booking for somethng far ahead, I had no worry.

There was also no email to say I cancelled and money has been taken (I thought they could not take the money because the 3-digit pin was not needed when booking).

The concerned apartment is called Apartment Sunset in Dubrovnik, Croatia. It was not possible to contact the owner as the agency on other side is direct-booker.com.

I have put my comment or story in their FB timeline and also twitted it. You may want to do the same.

Booking.com is the most horrible travelling website existing! They should not be allowed to exist.
