“good service and good overall price ”

Hired a compact car (turned out to be a almost new fiesta) from Goldcar FARO for 2 weeks. Was very apprehensive given the poor reviews but everything was fine.

Only a 20 minute wait to get the car at the airport. They try very hard to sell you the extra insurance, but several firm but polite no thankyou's and they get the message. As a result they take a €900.00 pre-authorisation on your credit card - but this is standard practice and the same as every other car company (just make sure you can cover this)

Re fuel, they push you to take the the flexfuel plan, and you lose something in the exchange rate when you return it - I got €25.00 back for just under 1/2 a tank that cost me nearly €90.00. However, when you take the overall costs into account Goldcar were very competitive, more than £200.00 cheaper than the other providers, and the overall service was fine.

As long as you can cover the credit card pre-authorisation, and expect to lose out a bit on the fuel, then I would recommend Goldcar as a very competitively priced company - and perhaps that's worth a little bit of hassle and hard sell.
